Neel — Kala Cotton Ajrakh Shirt

Handwoven Kala cotton. Natural indigo. Hand-block printed Ajrakh.

Neel brings together the earthy texture of handwoven Kala cotton with the timeless craft of Ajrakh block printing.

The deep blue is created using natural dye, giving the fabric its rich, organic character. Intricate Ajrakh motifs are then carefully hand-block printed onto the cloth, creating subtle variations and depth across the print.

Finished with a simple shirt silhouette and 3/4 puff sleeves, Neel is an effortless way to wear centuries-old textile craft in a contemporary wardrobe.

Details:
• Handwoven Kala cotton
• Natural dyes
• Hand-block printed Ajrakh
• Blue colourway
• 3/4 puff sleeves
• Easy, contemporary shirt silhouette
• Slight variations are natural to the handmade process

Craft Note

From the loom to the block, every layer is made by hand.

Our Kala cotton is a handwoven cotton textile from Kutch, valued for its naturally textured feel and connection to the region's weaving traditions.

The fabric is then transformed through Ajrakh, an age-old hand-block printing tradition. Intricately carved wooden blocks are dipped into colour and carefully stamped onto the fabric, layer by layer.

The variations in colour, texture and print are a natural part of the process — making each shirt slightly different from the next.

At Ruaish, we bring these traditional textiles into uncomplicated silhouettes, so the craft doesn't have to wait for a special occasion to be worn.
